About ElevatedPics.com
ElevatedPics.com is a division of Outer Banks Productions, a local Outer
Banks videography, photography and multimedia company. Owner Doug Haber
has been involved in video, audio and photography for over 20 years.
With a passion for flight Doug has become a local ultralight record
holder and aerial photographer. The goal has always been to get up in
the air, look around and enjoy what God has created!
As an ultralight, foot launching and tandem instructor,
it was inevitable that Doug would learn to fly stunt kites and radio controlled
equipment on those days that we not suited for human flight. Doug started out
with stunt kites, then moved on to radio controlled gliders, power kites
and then larger single line kites. All of these skills were destined to
come together for some purpose in the future. He is currently learning
to kite surf and has a growing collection of all types of kites and
flying toys.
So how did all of these experiences create an
elevated photography company? The aerial photography was originally derived from initial
research on the internet investigating kite fishing. The idea of taking
photos remotely from kites, blimps and masts came from the many websites
featuring stunning elevated photography. It turned out the information
on kite fishing was limited and was outshined by the incredible aerial
photos that were being taken from poles, kites and blimps. It simply
became a matter of time and resources to learn the interesting art of
aerial photography.
We were very fortunate to be to connected with some
pretty amazing resource. In fact, Doug was able to be trained by one of the
top kite aerial photographers in the country, Scott Haefner. Scott
traveled to the East Coast and brought along his incredible custom made
equipment and kites and showed us everything we needed to learn. Scott helped refine our
techniques and showed us all of the possibilities. Shortly after, the elevated mast photography
equipment was custom made and was
spawned from the technology used with the remote kite system. Together,
these tools are able to zoom in on some of the most exciting angles on
the Outer Banks.
Our main advantage is our ability to reduce costly
fuel and pilot costs associated with aircraft photography. We are
also able to get much lower than the five hundred foot legal limit of
powered ultra-lights and small single engine airplanes used in
traditional aerial photography.
With a previous career in web-design, Doug's image
manipulation skills are strong and are put to good use in the post
production digital image delivery system used for every ElevatedPics.com's customers. We enjoy getting that right shot for the
job and always strive to produce the best images possible.
